LAGOS, NIGERIA – June 16, 2025 – The Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA) announces the successful conclusion of its national team selection process and training camp, which took place from February to June 2025. This program aimed to identify and develop top flag football talent across Nigeria, culminating in the formation of strong men’s and women’s national teams ready for international competition.
The process began with tryouts held in various locations across Nigeria. These tryouts attracted a diverse pool of athletes demonstrating skill, athleticism, and a passion for flag football. This selection phase ensured opportunities for the nation’s top prospects to showcase their abilities.
Following the initial tryouts, 50 athletes were invited to participate in a two-month training camp held in Lagos. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, the athletes underwent a demanding regimen focused on refining their skills, enhancing their understanding of flag football strategies, and fostering teamwork. This training narrowed the pool down to squads of 25 athletes, which were further refined to the final 12-player rosters that will represent Nigeria in upcoming international competitions.

The national team camp served as a crucial step in this commitment, allowing the organization to cultivate talent and build cohesive teams ready to represent Nigeria.
